is highly customized SQL database system for manufacturing management. It is developed based on our customer's individual requirements. Therefore it is very flexible and highly customized for each customer's needs. Our customers will no longer be bound by a particular structure. The system is based on the the very successful MS SQL Server 7.0 / 2000 platform. Thus allowing almost infinite expansion in performance and enterprise class stability. We develop the system on VB language which is widely supported by thousand of worldwide developers. Complete ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system are based on modular design. Accounting Department has its own module, Production Department and Warehousing Department have their own modules too. Each module can be integrated into an ERP system, but they can also function by themselves individually.

All interfaces (screens) are in user-friendly Windows appearance. Most operation can be done by mouse click.

Interactive Interface design (Input & Selection field) 
When you type in the letter "%ap" in Part # field, the selection sub-menu will immediately change to display all Part # containing the letter "ap" (% means any character in front of "ap"); from the sub-menu you can now easily choose the Part # you want to select.        See example of superior programming

User Control
Users need to enter their Username & Password in order to access the system.   Administrator can easily control user's right to access and modify database.

Types of users and individual module access control:
Read-Only:      user can only read data from the database.
Write-&-Edit:  user can read and add new transaction record to the database and change the content of a transaction record. But cannot delete a transaction record.
Power user:     having rights of Write-&-Edit user and can delete a transaction record.
Module access control: users can be allowed or disallowed from accessing individual module.
Access Time control: user can only access the system at allowed time: hour-hour/weekday-weekday.

Minimum number of Interface Screen
Because of the use of Interactive Input & Selection field and Multiple Transaction Input in a single screen, we can simplify the design of the application. (Some third-party design uses 3 times the number of interface screen to do the same job)

Report writing
Our system is capable of producing full color report and form (all customized to client's specification). Exporting of report to Excel, Word, HTML, and XML is also possible.

Tested database capacity
Our current tested database capacity is as follow:
Part list size: 30,000 individual parts
BOM table size: 3,500 individual BOM tables
Warehouse transaction size per year: 1.5 million rows
Factory size: 2,500 workers / 85 workstations

Warehousing control module - (Real time warehousing system)
The control of material movement is very important. Raw materials and semi-finished parts form the basis of manufacturing management. We must know at any give time how much materials we have in our manufacturing facilities. Thus a real time warehousing control system is necessary. This module records warehousing transactions in real time. And it records in detail where, when, what, and how each transaction is happened. Material reports and stock reports can be prepare at any time to present the planning of material requirement.

Product development & BOM module - (Complex relation in multiple BOM level)
This module handles the Master part list (listing of every part used in the manufacturing process). From the Master part list, product engineers can draw up the BOM for each product. In the manufacturing process, there are two source of parts: one from the internal manufacturing system and the other from the external manufacturing suppliers. When combined with the warehousing control module, this module can perform planning of raw material, semi-finished material, out-source material, contract-made material, etc.

Sales & Marketing module
Sales department has a lot of paper works to deal with every day. Much of these paper works are identical and replicating. Having a computerized system means every thing shall be entered into the computer only once and for all. If a type-writing Invoice form takes 20 minutes to complete (even with the help of word-processing program), in a database system like ours it will only take 5 minutes. Production Control module
This module monitors and provide analysis of the daily production line running. It records the running of production line HOURLY. The management can know exacting how many pieces are products in each production line, how many pieces passed Q.C, failed Q.C., repaired/non-repairable. They can measure the completion percentage of each production order (in % percentage). This module also help floor manager to fine tune the production lines in order to achieve Better quality and Higher efficiency.

Shipping department handles when and what will be shipped out of the factory and arrive at a customer's hand. Modern shipping companies and terminals are all highly computerized. Web-publishing module

This module handles the collaboration of staffs working in different departments. What is SQL ?
SQL (Structural Query Language) is a database language used widely in Banking database application. Actually, we encounter SQL everyday when we use bank ATM machine to withdraw or deposit money from our account. It has the ability to keep track of large amount of records(or transactions) and maintain complex relationship among objects(tables of record). In manufacturing field, it is becoming popular because traditional spreadsheet application (e.g. Excel) just could not handle large amount of records efficiently. SQL's performance is remarkably fast. It is capable to search through thousands of record in one second. Furthermore, SQL is designed for Server-Client environment wherein multiple users can work on a common database at the same time.

Case Study
A factory named "United Technology" (UT) has 300 workers, 3 warehouses and 5 managing level staffs. Every day, there are 5 deliveries of raw materials from suppliers. And 2 shipments of finished products. Assumes there are 5 different type of materials in each supplier's delivery, and 3 models of finished product in each shipment.

Total number of transactions

-per day: 5x5 + 3x2 = 31

-per month: 31x30 = 930

-per year: 930x12 = 11160

Now, imagine a spreadsheet with 11,160 rows of record. It would be almost impossible to deal with in a spreadsheet application.
(In actual situation, there will be much more transaction per day because we did not count inter-warehouse transfer of semi-finished materials)

The 5 managing level staffs and warehouse keepers in the 3 warehouses have to keep records of transaction in many Spreadsheet files and some of these files are becoming too large to work on. Time is wasted just to read a file from head to tail or locating a single record. Accuracy is questionable. An error input by an unauthorized person happens from time to time.

What is a Database Front-end Application & Why it is necessary?
End-user can hardly implement SQL without a Front-end Application. Because SQL is a database language, most end-user will have difficulty using it directly to search a database. Thus an Front-end Application - a graphical interface which translate user's instruction to SQL language and display the search result in easy-to-understand format, should be used.
