Quick Installation Guide

Hardware Installation

1. Shutdown a modem and connect its modem cable to PA-210DS (usually modem port #1).
2. Insert a RJ-45 cable into PA-210DS from your hub or switch.
3. Insert the power plug into PA-210DS.
4. Power on PA-210DS. (You should see the red Power LED lights up and also the green Link LED lights up if connected to a network)

Software Installation
(For simple software setup, we recommend the use of a Windows machine to do the initial configuration of PA-210DS)

1. First make sure you have TCP/IP protocol installed on your Windows machine (check: Control Panel -- > Network )
2. Insert the Setup floppy disk (for Windows 95, 98, NT) into drive A: , then run A:\setup.exe
3. Follow instruction and use default selection (recommended). This program will add a new program to your Start menu for the configuration & management of PA-210DS.
4. Run the config. program by clicking: Start -- > Program -- > (the new program's name).
5. The program will start search for the PA-210DS on the network. *If it cannot find the PA-210DS, it may be because your computer is on a different IP network (subnet) than its default 192.168.10.x network. Try to change your computer's IP address to 192.168.10.x ( "x" cannot be =10 because by default PA-210DS is using it). Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
6. If the program can find the PA-210DS, you are ready to do the configuration. The administrator password is 0000.
7. Normally, what you have to do for configuration is entering : Your ISP's dial-up phone #, the Username, and the Password. Then save the setting you entered.
8. After configuration, for ALL other computers on your network to be able to access Internet using PA-210DS as the gateway, change the Internet Gateway to 192.168.10.10 (the default IP for PA-210DS). You can do that in: Control Panel -- > Network -- > TCP/IP (Properties of your network card).
9. Test PA-210DS by using your Internet Browser program (IE or Netscape). When you try to connect to the a web site, your modem connected to PA-210DS should automatically dial out to your ISP and make an Internet connection for you.
10. But if it does not work, there could be many things to check or change before it can work. Please refer to the User Manual for hints or search our FAQ section in our web site. If all failed, send us a email with specific information on the model of your modem, your ISP name, etc. We will try our best to help.
