FAQ ( for Wi-Fi Coin operated payment solution)

Q: What is Per Session payment?

A: Most Wi-Fi users use their own computers to connect to Wi-Fi Access Point (Hot Spot). The typical usage is charged Per Session. Each Session is typically 30 minutes to 60 minutes. When they enter the Wi-Fi Hot Spot, they can pay a Pay Rate (e.g. $5) for one Session (e.g. 30 minutes) of Wi-Fi connection. The Pay Rate and The Session Time are both adjustable in our TT-1-WA series of coin controllers.

Q: What is RF transmission STOP function

A: The wireless network use RF (Radio Frequency) to transmit data. When the Wi-Fi module of our controller is not in a paid-for session (that means no user is using it), its RF transmission is cut off.  Nobody can detect there is a wireless network. So hacking it become impossible. When a user pays for a connection session, the controller will resume the RF transmission of the Wi-Fi module and the user can immediately detect that the wireless network exists.

Q: What is SSID/Password Display function?

A: By default, most Wi-Fi Access Point/Router allows everyone to access the network. For our Self Service Access Point, you may set a Password (or equal to the SSID) which will restrict only users who knows the Password to access the network. The Password Display function is that after user paid the fixed fee for one session, the controller will display the Password (on the LCD display, for 15 seconds) to the user. For Web Login system, our bundled software (purchased separately, the HotSpot Manager) installed at a gateway computer will handle the authorization of Password.

Q: What do you suggest for me to set up a HotSpot quickly at my coffee shop?

A: We suggest the following:
1) Have a broadband account with your local ISP (be it ADSL or Cable) of at least 256kbps Internet broadband connection.
2) Purchase one unit TT-1-WA HotSpot In-A-Box.
3) Set up broadband connection configuration on a web browser (for the builtin Wi-Fi router in TT-1-WA).
4) Choose a new SSID, for example "AP1020" and disable SSID Broadcasting. So users cannot connect to it without knowing the SSID.
5) Set the TT-1-WA to display the new SSID.
6) Set the Session Time and Pay Rate.
